On November 6, 2019, dominion energy shut down its sammer nuclear power plant in south Carolina. Earlier, officials at the plant said a small leak had been discovered in the reactor's cooling system several weeks ago and that the plant's operating company was monitoring the leak and limiting it to the containment building to avoid affecting the surrounding environment.

The spill posed no danger to the public. Although the extent of the leak did not require shutting down the plant, operators made a conservative decision to shut down the reactors to address the leak. The company has notified the NRC of the leak. (From CNNPN)
