India Tata Steel kalingagar plant will complete the second phase of capacity expansion project in fy2021

Tata Steel's kalingagar plant in Orissa is planned to expand its capacity from the current 3 million T / A to 8 million T / A and complete the project in the 2021 fiscal year (April 2021 March 2022). The project needs to raise 235 billion rupees (about US $3.2 billion), and the expansion will enhance Tata's market position in India's automobiles, infrastructure and other high-end products.

According to previous reports, the second stage of Tata Steel's capacity expansion plan includes the expansion of upstream and midstream capacity, and the construction of a 5 million T / a blast furnace, a 3 million T / a converter steel plant and a comprehensive cold rolling plant, which will include a 2.2 million T / a cold rolling mill, two continuous galvanizing lines (with a total capacity of 1 million T / a) and annealing production lines.

Tata plans to gradually commission the equipment, and the cold rolling complex will be completed first in the second phase, and will be put into operation in 2020-2021 fiscal year.

Kalinganagar plant can produce 5.75 million tons of sinter, 1.65 million tons of coke, 3.3 million tons of pig iron, 3 million tons of crude steel, 3 million tons of slab and 3.5 million tons of hot rolled coil every year. (From Csteel)
